Clinique’s story began with a great conversation. The year was 1967 and revolution was in the air as a savvy US Vogue Magazine editor Carol Phillips interviewed Dr. Norman Orentreich, the high-profile New York dermatologist. Dr Orentriech expressed a simple idea that would transform the beauty industry: Great Skin Can Be Created.
At the time the general attitude towards skin care was mainly down to lucky genes. But the resulting cover story marked the beginning of a new era of skin care, punctuated by ideas like: Products can improve your skin! You are not stuck with the skin you were born with! Convinced that Dr Orentriech’s philosophy would resonate with woman around the world, the visionary Estee Lauder family recruited him, along with Carol Phillips, to bring their dialogue to life with a new line of products.
